Marvelous Kidz Learning Center Opens in Kentwood: A Lifeline for Families

In response to soaring childcare costs—averaging over $11,000 annually in Michigan—a new center in Kentwood is flipping the script. The Marvelous Kidz Learning Center, opening August 4, 2025, aims to offer quality childcare at a price that helps families breathe easy.

💬 What Sets Marvelous Kidz Apart:

  • Age Range: Accepting children from 6 weeks to 11 years old.

  • Curriculum: Strong focus on S.T.E.M. learning, alongside emotional and social development.

  • Nutrition: Partners with My Hot Lunch Box to provide meals from local restaurants.

  • Schedule: Open Monday to Friday, 7 a.m.–6 p.m., perfect for working parents.

🙌 Community-Rooted Leadership

Founder Karmen Johnson, who also runs Marvelous Lifestyles Outreach, launched the initiative to help parents return to work without sacrificing safe, nurturing childcare. Program director Laton Allaway, with 20+ years of experience, brings deep expertise to the center’s vision.

🔮 What’s Next?

  • A Phase 2 expansion in summer 2026 will include middle schoolers, extending the impact and access even further.
