Openreach's Plans to Retire the copper network and transition to digital services:

1. Ultrafast Full Fibre Network:

   - Openreach is rolling out an ultra-reliable, Ultrafast Full Fibre network across the UK. This network upgrade connects homes and businesses directly to exchanges using a single pure fibre cable.

   - Benefits of Ultrafast Full Fibre include speeds up to 10 times faster than current technologies, significantly fewer faults, and future-proofing the nation's connectivity¹.

   - With Full Fibre, you can stream 8K TV or ultra HD on multiple devices simultaneously without buffering, work from home seamlessly, and enjoy increased reliability for emergency calls.

   - Additionally, Full Fibre broadband includes cutting-edge voice technology, replacing traditional telephone networks with broadband-based voice services (similar to Skype or Microsoft Teams).

2. Phased Approach to Copper Network Retirement:

   - Openreach has adopted a phased approach to stop selling copper broadband and telephony products. As of September 5th, 2023, this change applies across the UK.

   - By the end of 2025, Openreach plans to retire the old analogue (PSTN) copper network completely. Everyone in the UK will need to transition to a Digital Phone Line.

3. What It Means for You:

   - When 75% of homes and businesses connected to a particular exchange can access Full Fibre, old copper products (such as Gfast, Superfast Fibre, and Standard Broadband) won't be available for new contracts.

   - Existing copper-based services may continue for out-of-contract customers in special circumstances.

   - If you're unsure, speak to your communications provider for personalized guidance.

In summary, Openreach's move toward Ultrafast Full Fibre aims to provide faster, more reliable connectivity while phasing out the old copper network. It's an exciting step toward a digitally connected

 future! 🌐🚀¹²³
